Legs for Days: Gal Gadot’s Playful Swimsuit Shoot with a Retro Twist
Over the weekend, Gal Gadot shared a retro-inspired swimsuit photoshoot on her Instagram page that brought back vibes from the 1960s. The Wonder Woman actress, who is 37 years old, can be seen playfully sticking her tongue out in one of the black and white snaps. She flaunted her stunning legs in a dark one-piece swimsuit that accentuated her svelte figure. Gadot posed around a directors’ chair in a backyard, twirling her hair stylishly and wrapping it in a towel. Aside from her swimwear shoot, the actress has several upcoming movie projects, including a reboot of Alfred Hitchcock’s romantic thriller “To Catch A Thief.” This 1955 film starred Cary Grant and Grace Kelly in the leading roles, based on a mystery novel by David Dodge. The new version of “To Catch A Thief” is not the only classic Hollywood territory that Gadot is exploring.
Gal Gadot is set to take on the role of legendary queen of Egypt, Cleopatra in an upcoming movie. However, her being a white actress has generated some backlash. Despite the fact that Cleopatra was ethnically of Greek origin, there have been issues with “whitewashing” controversies over the years. Gal herself served in her country’s military in accordance with its draft. She addressed the controversy in a recent interview with BBC Arabic, explaining that Cleopatra was Macedonian and urging people to stay true to the facts.
Gal’s rise to fame has been marked by controversy, with her casting in the role of Cleopatra being the latest example. However, this is not the first time that Gal has faced criticism for her roles. Her performance as Wonder Woman drew attention to her previous military service in the Israel Defense Forces, ultimately resulting in political backlash.
The co-producer and renowned film star expressed that they searched for a suitable Macedonian actress to play the role of Cleopatra in the upcoming film. However, they didn’t find anyone fitting the role, and hence, they decided to take up the challenge themselves. The actor further added that she wants to celebrate the legacy of Cleopatra and honor the historic icon whom she admires. She also challenged other filmmakers to come up with different versions of the story as anyone can make this movie. The actor emphasized that she is passionate about making her own version of the movie.
